The 23-year-old Rasmussen spent five years at Grand Canyon University before entering the SuperDraft. He played midfield for much of his college career before moving to the left wing back role in a back three, according to a profile by SBI’s Larry Henry Jr.

Rasmussen made 20 appearances in 2021, logging nine goals and six assists under a new head coach. He will likely play a backup role with the Timbers in 2022.

Portland also selected defenders Julian Bravo (Santa Clara) with the 55th overall pick and Sivert Haugli (Virginia Tech) 83rd overall.

UPDATE 1/14/2019 12:00 pm

With their third round pick, the Sounders selected 6’1″, 185 pound centerback Aleks Berkolds from San Diego State University.

With their first pick, 20th overall, in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, Seattle Sounders FC selected midfielder Tucker Bone from the United States Air Force Academy. Bone was born in Tacoma and stands 5’11” and weighs 160 pounds.

Last year, Bone was a semifinalist for the Hermann trophy, notching 13 goals and 6 assists in 20 starts. He was also USC First Team All-American, USC First Team All-West Region, Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and First Team All-Western Athletic Conference.

Bone will need a waiver to defer his military duty. Basically, he will need US Soccer to declare him eligible for the USMNT pool. After two years, the Air Force would have to decide whether or not to recall him back into the pilot’s program.

With their second round pick, the Sounders chose another midfielder, Joel Rydstrand. Rydstrand is much more defensive than Bone. In his senior year he was named USC Second Team All-East Region, Big East Conference Midfielder of the Year, and First Team All-Big East Conference. Rydstrand has spent time in Swedish national team camps. He is, no doubt, familiar with current Sounders midfielder Gustav Svensson.
