With the NFL roster cuts looming, surprising roster moves and trades are making for an entertaining Saturday morning. Teams must trim down their rosters to 53 players by 4 PM EST Saturday.
The Seahawks have already started this process by making some cutting QB Paxton Lynch, DB DeShawn Shead, and DB (and Washington State Alum) Shalom Luani. More cuts are to be expected, but haven’t been announced as of yet.
However, the Twitterverse was on a rampage this morning with the talks of Jadeveon Clowney adamantly refusing to go to Miami and landing with the Seattle Seahawks, pending a physical and franchise tender signing. According to John Clayton, the Seahawks are sending LB Barkevious Mingo, Seahawks’ 2018 6th rounder (186th) DE Jacob Martin, and a 3rd round pick.
Clowney has been voicing his favor of a trade to either the Seahawks or Eagles instead of going to Miami, who thought they had the trade sealed.
In 2018, the former 1st round pick and perennial Pro Bowler racked up nine sacks plus 47 tackles. This addition will fill the voids of Frank Clark and Jarran Reed, who will miss the first six games of the season due to a suspension.
More to come.
